Week Two: Day Two

In class today we shared our homework task with another group and gained some feedback which was:

  • Henry said that he wouldn't stop and read the text
  • Also that it was quite plain and non-beachy so you don't really get a fun beachy vibe
  • Could be a bit to much with all the type and infographics, could look at a way of making it scientific but still bright and more eye-catching.
  • Also the grey in the bar graph is very similar to the background colour.

After this we shared the best posters with the other class where we were able to have a look at their ideas and give each other feedback. It was interesting to see how different people were approaching things differently and there were some useful comments made by the teachers and students. e.g including branding on objects such as cups is unnecessary, try cropping, the meaning behind the poster can change through style etc.

Questions to think about when creating poster concepts:

  • what is your gut reaction?
  • did you get it? is something confusing?
  • can u see the topic?
  • what is the essential idea?
  • can you distill this to one word/sentence?
  • are there other ways to express this theme?
  • what have we identified as being important at the beach day clean up?
